   One advantage that an image-centric platform like pixelfed has beyond text-centric ones is that newcomers will actually have to engage in the thing the platform is for and not in the meta. That is, every time there's people switching to a twitter clone, 99% of the posts are about how bad twitter is and how good the new platform this (or how great crypto is if its a crypto one). With pixelfed, people can't post images about how good pixelfed is, so you get some actual activity even from newcomers.

     @lain you cant post pictures of pixelfed because pixelfed looks awful so why would you wanna post that
