It would be most terrifying if access is limited to special roles in society or innovation is only allowed behind closed doors under government supervision.
If it can be used as a weapon as most tools can be, we need to protect regular human access to the technology the same way we try to preserve our access to firearms (and for much of the same reason).-

Defensively it could be used to help build better security systems or detect intrusion. Offensively it could be used to compromise enemy security. The most current iteration would probably suck at all of that, but it could probably be useful in psychological warfare. Intelligent detection of generated content could help defend against such tactics. -

How could it be used as a weapon? -

No one generally classifies a hammer as a weapon until someone gets their head smashed in. -

I've stabbed myself with a dull screw driver and pierced a vein in my hand scrapping a curling iron (I don't touch em anymore nothing worth your time except the cord) but yeah when I did my sister told me about how she stabbed her self in the hand with a butter knife and an orange cause she though she couldn't cut herself. I hear its actually pretty common but anything is a blunt murder weapon and molotoves are lethal and cheap. Disinformation Purveyor :verified_think: likes this. -
