     Oh I didn't even consider that. I was thinking it might be because I was using a VPN and making no effort to hide that (it's never been an issue before) and so I thought they might be banning those for now too but yeah server crash because they had 50,000% higher account signups plus likely way more traffic in certain regions due to VPN usage.
     .
     App wise the US uses com.zhiliaoapp.musically while the rest of the world uses com.ss.android.ugc.trill so blocking the app for US users is trivial.
     
     I should test with com.ss.android.ugc.trill. I'll probably have to spoof sim data.

     I get the same error from a Montreal IP from a brand new Windows 10 install.
     
     Hard to say if it's caching. I could see them shutting it down (mostly) for the weekend not wanting to risk it. Trump has already said he wants to work something out.
     
     My main worry is that Elon, or some other big tech company will buy it and make it lame and gay.

     @j yeah, my account is still viewable from outside the US, but i can't login at all. so i think they just disabled logins in the US region and forcefully logged everyone out. and everyone trying to sign up again overloaded their systems i assume
     
     yeah i think so too. maybe monday or early next week we'll see it come back again. i think they're just flexing their power

     @j i just tried signing up for a new account from a canadian ip. it didn't let me, but i could freely scroll the "home" timeline. so the app isn't dead fully

     I think they just shut tiktok down worldwide not wanting to risk it
