i set up my new arm based vps (rented at netcup) for personal use and did the thing where i sync my Documents folder with unison bidirectionally. it's just a cronjob. also have a cronjob that makes a daily and a weekly backup of that folder on the server using tar. both are just a single line of invoking a utility. combined with the internet speeds & storage available today it's just simple & good :3

I did try unison in the past and things got ugly, felt somewhat clunky.

Passim (passim@zirk.us)'s status on Sunday, 19-Jan-2025 03:54:05 JST Passim @mntmn Cool. I've been using Syncthing with an affordable VPS and it also works great to sync docs and an Obsidian vault across a few computers using different OSs.
