prettygood (prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:21:07 JST prettygood @nyanide there's a reason I stick to ext4, and glibc, and bash, and gcc. Because I don't have to answer random fucking "why doesn't this do that" questions. -
eemmaa (eemmaa@girlboss.gaslight.love)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:27:28 JST eemmaa @nyanide @prettygood what do you mean you cant just mount a partition to /mnt, i mount a partition to /mnt like weekly -
nyanide :nyancat_rainbow::nyancat_body::nyancat_face: (nyanide@lab.nyanide.com)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:27:28 JST nyanide :nyancat_rainbow::nyancat_body::nyancat_face: @eemmaa @prettygood i cannot just do mount /dev/ada0p4 /mnt that just throws an error message saying it can't open ada0p4, maybe I'm mounting the wrong partition or something idk but it says it exists on disk when I do ls
-
eemmaa (eemmaa@girlboss.gaslight.love)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:29:50 JST eemmaa @nyanide @prettygood you want to mount the /dev/ada0p4.geli if you are using disk encryption, if its an external zpool you have to import it: zpool import -fR /mnt yourpoolname
then you go about using mount
mount -t zfs poolname/slice -
nyanide :nyancat_rainbow::nyancat_body::nyancat_face: (nyanide@lab.nyanide.com)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:31:45 JST nyanide :nyancat_rainbow::nyancat_body::nyancat_face: @eemmaa @prettygood reasonable enough actually, might go make a forums account and see why i915kms just gives me a blank screen when it's loaded on the chinkpad. Extremely weird behavior -
eemmaa (eemmaa@girlboss.gaslight.love)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:36:21 JST eemmaa @nyanide @prettygood thats odd normally intel integrated works pretty good, idk. What I'm posting from is a chinkpad with intel integrated and stuff, running freebsd on it, if you are updating base from source, you are gonna have to build your kernel module again - unlikely this is your issue, but just incase, you can put a hook in your make to do it every time you make installkernel -
nyanide :nyancat_rainbow::nyancat_body::nyancat_face: (nyanide@lab.nyanide.com)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:36:50 JST nyanide :nyancat_rainbow::nyancat_body::nyancat_face: @eemmaa @prettygood it's a brand new RELEASE install and following the handbook to set up the module, this issue seems to have some relevance

eemmaa (eemmaa@girlboss.gaslight.love)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:37:33 JST eemmaa @nyanide @prettygood actually this might apply too even if you didnt build world and like used a stable snapshot to install -

I mean at least it's known and there's a workaround...

eemmaa (eemmaa@girlboss.gaslight.love)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:49:19 JST eemmaa @nyanide @prettygood my system is all source and on stable branch so i luckily dont have this issue -
eemmaa (eemmaa@girlboss.gaslight.love)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 14:51:35 JST eemmaa @nyanide @prettygood this guy is having the issue i suggested though, if you used a stable snapshot stable != release in bsd land, its basically beta, and if you run stable you gotta have a build farm or use source locally -
