   It seems that Pixelfed, a FLOSS-based Insta alternative for photo sharing, is getting more press and buzz because Meta decided to delete or remove posts mentioning Pixelfed URLs or accounts. When are corporate overlords going to learn about the Streisand Effect? Any attempts to censor and suppress information always backfire and lead to the info becoming even more widely known to others who would have ignored or not searched for it.

     @nixCraft @pixelfed meta stopping the bleed of users is why they’re still here. Blocking links when momentum to leave rises reinforces the network effect (I can’t leave because everyone I know is on the old platform)
     For more info- see how Reddit became big after Digg made unpopular redesign , it’s a pattern that plays out again and again.

     @nixCraft @pixelfed I joined because of FB blocking Pixelfed. I'm from the generation that believes anything banned must be worth checking out.
