Hey @Gargron, can’t you vet accounts that are clearly bots? I’m blocking hundreds of accounts “___Deals” “CashApps” “GoFundMe” etc accounts, and it’s taking me an hour every damn morning.
Thanks.

@GottaLaff We have a CAPTCHA on sign-up that's supposed to be difficult for bots to break. In our experience, spam that gets through is operated by humans. We try to stay on top of the IP addresses and e-mail domains they use, but it's a cat and mouse game. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
@Gargron I appreciate that, but it’s getting WAY worse, not better.
There must be a way to key word the account names.
@stepheneb @GottaLaff @LarsFosdal You can filter notifications from new accounts if you click the gear above notifications in the web app.
Am guessing you don’t want to enable “request to follow” to keep it as easy as possible for folks to follow you.
New feature idea: add filtering-like capability to enable “request to follow” gate. Additional useful filter types: age of account, number of posts, followers etc
Separately implement similar filter flow to automatically reject “request to follow”
@GottaLaff
Have you tried filters? They might be a bit brutal, though.
@LarsFosdal That would affect my followers. I don’t want these accounts following me.
@Gargron @stepheneb @LarsFosdal
And to respond to request... I still have to vet. That's the issue. I spend hours vetting, no matter if they're "requests to follow," or just follows.
I used to ignore, but now there are so many, I can't.
