     @prettygood @dcc Hence why I've been doing raid (via zfs) on almost all my machines.
     Still need backups of course because even if you make filesystems effectively bug-free and resistent to hardware issues there's still userspace and the idiot between the keyboard and the chair.

     @lanodan @dcc yeah. I just use borgbackup and test it a couple of times a year and hope for the best. Ironically, despite my own personal feelings, rsync dot net uses zfs for their customers and that's "good enough for me" so take that as it is.

     @prettygood @dcc I've often heard about borgbackup but most of my backups are either made with tarballs or rsync, rest is fs dump based on zfs snapshots.
     tarballs to me being irreplaceable because I want my stuff in a format I'm sure I can easily extract data from regardless of the OS.

     @lanodan @prettygood It seems its possible to rsync to a destiation and then tar it, seem's to be scripting stuff though nothing to do with rsync.

     @dcc @prettygood Well a tarball is just a file so you can rsync that.
     And if it's like appending to a tarball tape-archive style, I think rsync should also work well but I haven't checked.
