     @256 That book's been updated twice, I got the first update ("The New Way Things Work") as a small child and it's very likely that book a major factor in my interest in engineering.

     The newest version goes into things like flash memory and similar modern systems and technologies.

     If you have kids, I can't recommend it enough. If you don't got kids, surely you know someone who does. Boom, gift idea.
