twitter gooners and tiktok gooners are entirely different beasts.
the former have had years to collect and curate their vast collections, and are generally a lot more ingrained in their existing social circles and don't welcome that many outsiders. they have a lot more freedom, but not that far of a reach, and in general the skill and sophistication level is pretty high, because it's kind of impossible to stand out against established accounts with huge backlogs of captions and an incredible level of image manipulation (maybe you'll get the occasional hypknotted, but it's usually an existing member rebranding)
the latter are either constantly in fear of having their accounts and collections nuked, so they private their accounts and are generally very hard to tease any conversation out of on platform, or they have accepted the chaos and have an army of alts well adapted to the unique moderation and feature landscape, and are constantly innovating how to get as much reach on the app as possible. the name of the game is staying up as long as possible DESPITE manual reports (if you get reported, appeal, and have your post reinstated, you have essentially won). it's genuinely fascinating how creative people get trying to sneak nsfw onto a sfw app that is essentially just porn without the porn, especially given that the most sophisticated tool most use is capcut. i could write a book about the shenanigans ive seen just trolling around for a few days

@zonk im guessing zoomers are still insisting on using tiktok for this sort of activity, most peers i see doing stuff like this are extremely stupid when it comes to adapting and overcoming obstacles

2025 will be my year, i will get Social Habits of Compulsive Masturbators Across Social Media Platforms published in nature or science 🙏

@zonk like most of the time they keep trying to do the same thing over and over again expecting something different to happen, maybe they'll change up their strategy a bit but they usually don't try very hard and it's usually pretty easy to guess what they might be doing to get around a problem like this

@nyanide surprisingly there is a healthy mix of millennials, but yeah it's mostly zoomers... and early teens. which is pretty concerning, since ive blocked more kids with "14, gooner" in their bios than i would have otherwise wanted to. i would say that there's a vast dumb consumer base on tiktok. even if you post safe/questionable stuff off e621 you'll get 1k followers in a week. but the real skill lies in the 0.1% of goontok that actually has the brainpower (hasn't been fried by porn or the algorithm yet) and skill (can use capcut and run a/b tests and recognize the results) to remain standing. it's like digging your feet into ice while a snowstorm blows you away. only 1% of the 0.1% actually have a triple digit iq, so most of the people that actually make content do it poorly and it's very ephemeral

@nyanide yeah pretty much. the biggest problem is manual reports and passing through the opaque appeals process. if you can master that, the ai moderation doesn't pick up much and you have free reign over the minds of thousands of people that get dumped into your audience bucket, a small slice out of the about 100k people that use tiktok exclusively for porn (by my estimates, at least from what i can see. it's definitely way more).
in general enforcement is opaque. some things slide and others copying them get banned. some really obvious things get through, some really convoluted things get flagged instantly. it's basically evolution on a behavioral scale, there's just enough randomness to make it a fun game for most to play

@nyanide i use my powers for good (academic curiosity and getting more people into bara), but there are plenty of really sus people on platform. it's also very overwhelming, if you're not plugged in every day you quickly lose the plot. i took a 2 day break and came back to 400 new followers, 50 new people dmming me, and a bunch of messages, likes, comments... and the general vibe of the content produced by market leaders shifted too. people do what they can get away with, so it's hard to stay consistent within one theme when the demand wildly shifts multiple times a day
