@Shlomo Imagine being enough of a fucking retard to give your data to telegram lmao
- † top dog :pedomustdie: likes this.
-
@BasedLunatic @Shlomo It was asking for a fone number, it was an information gathering operation from the beginning.
-
@Zergling_man @Shlomo heard the chief of telegram is cooperating with the French. Probably going to become another intelligence agencies source of information
-
@Cyrillic @Shlomo @BasedLunatic I really don't think two-factor authentication holds any value at all compared to just using one good factor, ie. public keys.
-
@Zergling_man @BasedLunatic @Shlomo me neither, I started using keepass for TOTP, but now that I use it for strong unique passwords instead of trying to remember mutated passphrases, the only threat vector is if my laptop has malware or if the company does something retarded like store plaintext passwords.
I'm fine with both risks (and keepass is on my laptop too so malware pwns that too lolol), which is why I won't use github because it's the most annoying with that shit
-
@Zergling_man @BasedLunatic @Shlomo at least companies now allow less retarded 2FA options (but they still require that dumb shit in the first place)
with the exception of glowing messaging apps
-
@Zergling_man @Shlomo but I just don't care about that stuff. It's too much bother trying to stay under the radar.

@BasedLunatic @Shlomo In my experience, there is not a single person in the world who likes receiving phonecalls. Every single person would prefer a voicemail or something, but for some reason they continue to allow calls to interrupt them.
So I encourage people to just actually do the thing that makes their life better, don't let the fone control you.
In addition to that, I find that anything tied to a fone number is woefully unusable because you can't easily transfer it between your personal computer and your pocket computer without involving third-parties, which just seems like a massive design flaw; an understandable one given that it predates computers, but that's not really a reason for it to have outlived myspace.
🤷

@BasedLunatic @Shlomo Is that lol as in League of Legends or as in laughing out loud?
Anyway, I recommend not doing that to yourself.
-
@Zergling_man @Shlomo I use discord, lol and google with phone number I am not a very privacy focused person

@Cyrillic @Shlomo @BasedLunatic Password managers are a poor substitute for public keys, but they're just close enough that they convince people that they don't need to support public key auth. They work out to be a slight net negative, it's frustrating.
