   ameriturds putting a ban on porn is interesting, usually they're the kind of people who want to indulge no matter what or they flip out. I have some ideas on what the downstream effects could be. I don't doubt that the boomers made do with the tv guide back in the day but the rug pull is a little different.

     @druid depends, they can make it a law and whoever wants to comply will do so, which will probably only include the biggest and most "legitimate" websites. something is definitely going on, I saw this on my TL

     "ban" is the wrong word because it's just age verification at this point, but I don't think any sane person is gonna upload a picture of their face and ID to jork it. I do believe there are politicians who also talk about an outright ban but they will probably go to prison for diddling before that passes

     @sampo @druid its an id check but there's no real way to make sure they aren't scraping all of that identity data. it's been a stated goal by lot of congressional morons to want real ID for all internet use
     
     not to mention the energy use for all the face scanning bullshit has been a nightmare in energy/water use. something everyone sleeps on while repeating the talking about that bitcoin boils oceans.
