Python dominates the IT world, especially in automation and many other areas. If you ever need a quick boost to your resume and job profile, try to master it. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done. Python is in demand for everything from writing web apps to IT infrastructure and more. The best part? It is easy to learn. It is the new basic.
@nixCraft I once got a job at a junk mail company who had this super long, 45-minute, process to sort the mailing lists their clients gave them to once that fit certain criteria. Everything was copy to Excel, sort, remove a certain number, copy back in, etc. Embarrassingly manual process.
On my second day, I commented the entire job could be done with a Python script.
@nixCraft By coincidence, I’ve only just (finally) started teaching myself Python - partly as I may soon need it for my work, but also as I’ve done bits of PHP, Bash-scripting and (back in the murky mists of time) BASIC. I’m trying to find out whether there’s an IDE for iPadOS which is at least functional, or if I’d be better off running one on my old Raspberry Pi… a minor “quest” for early 2025 🤓
