I've seen it time and time again in gamedev. Newbies enter the space, work for years (YEARS!) on their little projects (first one almost always). They release it, no one cares. Gets maybe 50 sales. Then they get super depressed and never do any game dev ever again.
Please don't do that.
Don't invest years into a project and hope it will all work out. It won't. You need feedback early. You need to publish often. You need to be flexible. You need to have fun.
