I wasn't even out of junior high before I realized that working harder in this system just gets you more work. School was simple. Never had to do homework or study for anything but I would get bored in class and instead of sending me to the weight room or letting me get exercise I was given pointless busy work that didn't even affect my grades or was expected to help the remedial kids get grades they didn't earn.
All the asian kids who scored high on tests had no social life, no personality and were constantly stressed out. I'm sure they're making plenty of money now with no clue how to really use it or enjoy it.
The education system is a joke. People need to have realistic expectations of themselves and their children. There needs to be a pro-active approach to sorting students into groups based on aptitude rather birth date. The school refused to advance me a year because they said it might make the students in the older grade feel uncomfortable or something. I checked out in high school.
