There's actually a long list of social problems that in principle are solvable but the government is so corrupt and cartoonishly evil that you can't take the smallest step in that direction without absurd power grabs used for the most aggressively antisocial purposes.
@drunkenpriapus I mentioned in my next post that the government can't pass any bill to curb the worst abuses without implementing obscene power grabs in opaque, 1000 page bills. Don't like Chinese spyware targeted towards teens? Too bad, we're gonna bundle that with criminalizing basically everything else online if we decide we don't like it.
@ArdainianRight That's the problem. There should exist extremely simple and effective solutions to keeping 99% of kids off of the internet but the keys to access these solutions are held by a corrupt political class who hates you and would use them as a trojan horse to expand their power.
Nevertheless we should at least do the best we can to, on a broad level, strongly discourage, and on a personal basis restrict children from getting their brains zapped by the internet.
Especially girls, young girls go insane when touched by the most ostensibly "kid friendly" social media, actually suicidally if not homocidally insane, it is like it is specifically engineered to destroy the developing female brain in the way that seemingly less accessible and socially acceptable insanity like sissyhypno and porn addiction does to boys
