   I don't remember who gave this advice, but it stuck with me. A smart man said that you shouldn't  try too hard to get people to like you (people with diametrically opposed political/moral views). If you constantly walk on eggshells, you will be surrounded by people who despise you. Be true to yourself and attract people who will celebrate with you when you succeeded, and support you when you fall.
