     usb redirector did not lead to success because it wanted a $69 license at the last minute, so now trying VirtualHere. ArturiaMsd is there!

     this wasn't so easy of course, i had to manually find windows update KB2999226 and install it using wusa.exe (the more you know!)

     got this far but couldn't get their "MiniFuse 1 Start" driver to work even after trying many things, like using test mode and ESD patcher exploit to disable driver signing checks etc. well, this concludes the experiment!

     @mntmn I have to admit, the idea of having _all of Windows XP_ as some sort of intermediary shim for a linux driver is both hilarious and horrifying.

     @mntmn Any reason why you didn't try WIn 10 / 11? I suspect it should have similar ^hunger for resources. For Win 11 there are ways to get around the need for TPM 2.0. https://www.howtogeek.com/759925/how-to-install-windows-11-on-an-unsupported-pc/
