     @arstechnica It seems likely to me that those who know how will set up home server-based ad blocking and run everything through that.

     Older generations of people the world over, in particular, are going to increasingly find themselves at odds with the direction technology is heading. The company I work for right now has plenty of PO'd customers who hate how our deployed technology works, and honestly, as a GenX'er, I can't say I blame them as I can easily remember how things "used to be".

     @arstechnica how does it get ads if you never connect it to the internet? Though I will say they do make it impressively annoying on some of these TVs to connect it to a source like HDMI 🤷♂️
