   Currently learning the Spotify API so I can write a script to periodically shuffle a playlist myself, because I suspect their own shuffle is not fairly random, and it's eating at me.

     @foo I'm sure that I've noticed a 'random shuffle' sticking for a time period.

     Turn Shuffle On, get some play order
     Turn it Off, play something else
     Go back to original and Turn Shuffle On

     ➡️ Same play order as before

     They've got the cycles to burn for LLM/AI but not enough to call random() a second time? 🫨

     @kaybee335 It's not necessarily that the order gets stuck (though I think I've seen what you're talking about a few times), it's that certain bands seem to come up more often than perfectly-distributed random when shuffled, and I suspect conspiracy: https://fosstodon.org/@foo/113595954432762703

     @foo oh yeah, I've definitely noticed that as well.

     There seem to be periods where a certain band is more represented than you would expect. Or a new unknown-to-you band is injected for some unknown reason.

     I don't *want* to say that seems to be amazingly coincidental with releases/tours by that same band, but .... 🤷♂️
