My current solution is blocking all trackers, ad networks and known bad actors including all of Facebook) at the edge of my network via the very robust MVP HOSTS file.

If this is being switched off in favour of a successor that's better, then that's actually fine isn't it? But what is the successor? Fingerprint blocking?
@arstechnica I'm not sure why this and the Evil Bit never took off. Seems way easier than this stupid arms race we're in with malicious software developers.

I haven't double checked most things in the article, but have noticed that since the latest 2 updates "Copy without site tracking" which they promote doesn't work on a lot of sites incl Mastodon website on FF desktop. (maybe b/c all the links to outside content?)
