Marcus (gerowen@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 11-Dec-2024 16:59:12 JST Marcus @Gargron I recently had to ask a friend of mine to just stop copying and pasting rebuttals from ChatGPT when we would have political debates. I just had to tell him that I wanted to talk to "him", not a glorified chatbot and forwarded him to a little opinion page on my personal website where I explain that AI is just a big scam that steals content from other people without attribution.

Mouse (grayfinger@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 11-Dec-2024 17:30:12 JST Mouse @Gargron I saw this in my YouTube TL and refused to even watch it. I like Brownlee quite a bit too. This AI scam is spreading like a wildfire.

Marques has been skeptical about AI and the hype around it for a long time, he has reviewed multiple garbage AI products and has called them out for it. Actually, his own videos have been stolen to train the model - one of the prompts he tried landed him a result, where the environment was pretty much identical to where he films his content (🤔).

ekari (ekari@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 12-Dec-2024 06:26:30 JST ekari @Gargron I wonder if all of this now slop, but eventually "great", AI crap will start pushing people back to using #lynx and the like, or even #gopher. Why bother with images and videos any more when signal-to-noise ratio gets below a certain point.
With browsers we learned to use #adblock and the like, but how to #aiblock?
At this rate the only winning move might be just not to play, and move back to text based tools. Or enjoy your new friends if you never left 🙂
