Russia doesn’t have the capability to fight a two-front war, and the situation in Ukraine represents a literal existential fight for Russia, so that obviously takes priority over anything. Assad has likely already been spirited out of Syria and is in exile in Moscow.
This is a terrible development for Russia, and it is because Putin doesn’t have the balls to hit back at the US the way the US has been attacking Russia. When Syria falls to US-backed rebels and mercenaries, the entire country will become a terrorist training camp with one goal — reigniting the wars in the Caucuses.
