     @griffith @Bad_Banner @deprecated_ii probably isn't, since Russia only cared about Syria insofar as Assad helped them maintain their oil monopoly in Europe by blocking Saudi proposals to run a pipeline through Syria, then into Turkey and the EU. Now that Assad is gone, the Russians no longer have a stake in the game. What happens in Syria is now for Iran to handle.

     @VIPPER @Bad_Banner @deprecated_ii Syria being Israel’s backyard makes greater Israel seem more likely. And I wouldn’t usually believe in things like that, but there’s basically a zone with no government.

     @griffith @Bad_Banner @deprecated_ii Israel doesn't have the resources or the strategic capability to occupy and subdue the local populations of Syria. The combat effectiveness of Tahrir Al-Sham and the other groups there also means Israel can't govern Syria on its own, it needs their cooperation, and it's unlikely that they will permit themselves to become an Israeli province. They will allow Israeli bases though, for the right price.

     @griffith @Bad_Banner @deprecated_ii The thing with Muslims is you can pay them to play your game, then for some reason they don't wanna do it anymore and overthrow your guy and install some nutjob who fancies himself the new Khalif of the entire Ummah. Happens once every 10-20 years no matter what. Israel is gonna find out pretty quickly what the Russians and the Americans have known for decades.
