One of Misskey's best features is the user drive functionality. The ability to manage uploads directly therein, like a form of cloud storage, and to reutilize already-uploaded files in subsequent posts, meaning no file duplication.

silverpill (silverpill@mitra.social)'s status on Monday, 02-Dec-2024 07:10:52 JST silverpill @adiz What is the benefit of keeping it on the server? The media collection can be stored on device as well, for me that makes more sense.
Duplication is not a problem in Mitra because files in storage are addressed by hashes.

<sha256-hash>.<extension>
When identical file is uploaded, the file name would also be identical.
