   on the topic of classic MNT Reform motherboard 3.0: at first a tiny voltage converter chip that's only used for the usb-uart went up in flames! but after removing it, the board is fine & calm and correctly requests 20V USB-C PD power.

     @mntmn literal flames? I've only had one board with actual *fire*, and that was with a low voltage supercap that leaked when a programmable vreg went crazy.

     @hughsie yes one little flame shot out of U12! and part of the chip turned to coal basically

     @mntmn Uff... i hope you manage to figure out why this happened without frying too many expensive things!
     I see the orange battery charging LEDs are now white? Could the LEDs maybe be made two different colors so that it's easy to see what is going on even though they are right next to each other?
