@carnage4life @mekkaokereke the custom algorithmic feeds really help too. there’s a feed i love called “quiet posters” that only shows posts from people you follow who *don’t* post a lot. pretty clever way to keep those people from getting drowned out.

When people crow proudly about Mastodon's complete absence of algorithmic feed, all I hear is "I don't mind only reading from the loudest people in my feed" -

There are also timezone effects; some people (presumably) mostly post when it's 3am where I am, so I hardly ever see them in my feed -
