@LouisConde I mean, he's not incorrect, it's the framing that's bad. It is true that they demolished the old downtown in order to build this gay expressionist monument, and the museum mentions it as if it is some cool fact and not horrible. The Gateway Arch also used to be called the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. Thing is, the museum located at the base, the Museum of Westward Expansion, now dedicates like half of the exhibit to how colonialism is bad. The only interesting part of the exhibit is the stuff about the French settlers.
When I went, on the very short walk from the parking garage to the monument, I was twice very aggressively asked for money by niggers. I think they set up shop there to shake down easily-pressured tourists. Fantastic demonstration of the absolute state of St. Louis
