     @p i think splits are coded into it, so a server can choose to take a portion of the zap for funding. i never set it up and i think nostr and its bridges are cancer and we've dropped the existing ones because our staff doesnt have time to deal with the spam and the CSAM that crosses more than a dozen times was enough for me to stop allowing it

     @graf I have not received any money; I did hear people tell me I was getting zaps. I imagine that this has been collected by the person running the gateway, and the gateway presents it as being a way to send BTC to me rather than to the operator of the gateway.

     @p @graf If I remember correctly it should do nothing unless you have special ⚡ field in your bio with a link to an address.
     
     However since only gleasonware supports it on the fedi side, it wouldn't surprise me if it is bugged in some way. And Nostr being mostly a scam haven, I would also expect it to be intentionally modified to be broken on the Nostr bridge side.

     @Flick @phnt @p thats not why i am saying it will never take off -- nostr requires you to have a pub and a private key. you have to store both, and you need one to login anywhere you go -- its usually 128-256+ characters. nobody is going to remember that. they're not interested in logging in on one relay and having their shit seen by their friends and then taking it somewhere else and literally nobody knows who they are. the tech is sound but literally *nobody* will be using it. it's such a wasted investment of time and money. alex fucked all of us off for this because he got the tiniest sneeze of investment money. there is no future in nostr at all

     Actually, the relay system is a terrible idea and this sort of thing has been tried before with exactly the results Nostr is currently seeing. It's a bottleneck. (They also botched the execution pretty badly if it's setting phones on fire.)
