     I used FNM to easily install node+npm.

     it turns out this was a mistake on windows, because FNM in magic and it expects to be doing shell magic

     so I think I need to uninstall all my node and reinstall node+npm separately, system-wide, and not try to do any managed environments

     @glyph sadly not, just using a phone with very slow 4g
