@nixCraft
IN 1971 I was in the Insurance Business
I would give presentations for policies and have a hand held Sears & Roebuck calculator ( Cost $100 Bucks) had only 4 function ....people were all gogglieyed over this one little device?
Now I-phones do better pictures than my $1000 Nikon Camera
So, Now A I can mimic a person so completely you cannot tell the difference
Thank God theres still SEX
@nixCraft My suspicion is that Bell Labs had nothing to do with the pricing.
@nixCraft I think this is mostly right. There was Xenix, which also helped to promote Windows.
@nixCraft windows is also not in reach of many developing countries. Yet we have windows in computer subjects starting from primary school. Bad luck for future generations.
Disagree. Microsoft gained it's foothold in the industry by making a user friendly desktop OS for non-tech end-users cheaper than Apple did. Different market.
@nixCraft definitely would have made it harder for windows but it’s not clear they’d have won. Unix required fairly expensive hardware they might have lost anyway. But MS for sure would have had to make a better product to compete.
