     @nixCraft I do so often enough, because I mess up so much with my hack-around-and-find-out approach that I need to recover all kind of data all the time 😆

     @nixCraft for me , i do $ tar -ztvf <backup>.tar.gz to verify its all there.

     my late uncle used to do real tape archives and place the reel (Sony, Fuji(bsf) or RCA) ontop of the stack of punch cards. back in the age of iron core and they had to wear white smocks.
