   I really want a video filter that applies VideoCipher II scrambling to the video.

   although really want I want is a rackmount machine to do it in hardware. maybe without the PDP-10

     @kaced the annoying thing? almost. There's not enough for someone like me to reimplement it, but maybe if you're very versed in analog NTSC signals you could figure it out from the available data

     @foone I’ve often thought about writing something like this, modern open implementations of analog video DRM. But is there any very specific public documentation about how exactly they worked, enough to properly reimplement them?

     @fsphil @kaced hmm, might be a good place to start though, maybe I can modify one of the existing scrambling modes to be Video Cipher 2

     @kaced @foone There's been a few scrambling modes implemented in hacktv, but it's mostly focused on systems used on Europe (Videocrypt, Syster, etc). No VideoCiper II sadly.
