     @arstechnica Because the rich assholes buying Teslas will still be rich assholes after the tax but the working class people who can't afford a Tesla will just skip buying a car at all or go for something much cheaper.

     Keeping his prices high has restricted his clientele to only people who talk shit about taxes but for whom they don't have any material impact.
