Now I can clearly see where Kenkou Cross is coming from, because he's seeing the newer gen of Japanese anime fans tolerate bad writing and a worse, blackpilled mindset.

I bet the same niggers run around bitching about how Korea and China are outperforming them in entertainment. :nacho_disgust: -
Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 09:20:19 JST Cayhr @Giganova8 Man that’s such a disappointing sentiment. Look at these responses.
Foreigners are too romantic and annoying
Romantic? Sure. Romance is what gives us life, pursuit of greatness. It is akin to beauty. However, annoying? If you view foreigner’s concern over the worsening of something we hold (or held) respect for, then I think in the future we will stop reading and watching things from Japan and instead look to Korea and China. From Japanese roots, Korea and China will take over the anime and manga industry. Look at how much real estate Blue Archive and Nikke have in Japan, despite being Korean.
Do foreigners like easy-to-understand happy endings?
Sometimes, and easy-to-understand is not always alongside happy. I accept bad endings if the story is good, but not bad endings or depressing stories that are a reflection of the author’s own miserable life. Xenoblade 2 has a prequel that you know going into it has a bad ending, but you still play it because in the future, there is hope and light despite the terrible things that happen. That is what makes us human, to strive despite the bleakness.
Overseas otaku are like old-fashloned otaku, or rather, there sensibilities are about 20 to 30 years behind the times.
This is stated like it’s a bad thing, but actually isn’t. If you change for the worse, not changing means I am better.

In another thread, one anon said it best. If you want to avoid these bad endings in manga, stick with a completed series.:gura_sus: 1e+6 litres :flag_china: likes this. -

Also, why the fuck are bullshit nihilist endings any more "complex and mature" when it's literally just "what if the story didn't matter and everybody was miserable lmao"? :tantrum:
Literally a child's view of maturity, same as the people who have hissyfits about fanservice. :reimu_sigh: -

Heh! Funny you mention that. I was on Cuckchan because that is exactly how Oshi no ko ended and I wanted to see the reaction of Cuckchan-Redditers -

Damn, I was kinda interested in that series too :gura_pain:
At least now I won't be wasting my time on it I guess :kek_pain: -

Korea and China shouldn't be on top. They don't have the stable and continuous art tradition that Japan, America, and Europe has. But everyone here and there is shooting themselves in the foot.
>Do foreigners like easy-to-understand happy endings?
My Jomon-Yayoi man, Kouhei was not writing End of Evangelion, Akira, or some Osamu Dazai novel. He was writing capeslop. There's not complex about it. -
TrueMasterCole (truemastercole@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 09:39:21 JST TrueMasterCole @Cayhr @Giganova8 @SuperSnekFriend The meme needs a bit of adjustment for this topic, but that last point where it states people overseas are behind, a reminder: Lord of the rings is quite old and beloved. Game of thrones followed the whole "modern" thing, and you see how that ended. Sometimes the older stuff is better because it has been proven tried and true. I want media that leave me happier and hopeful at the end. I don't want crap that makes me feel like there is no point in my actions. -
Dragon Zero (william_the_dragonborn@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 09:39:21 JST Dragon Zero @TrueMasterCole @Cayhr @Giganova8 @SuperSnekFriend My personal gripe is the endless continuation of stories, that which continues for excess time is ripe for degeneration and decay. Everything has a beginning and end for that which lives must also die, that is reality. Cayhr likes this. -
Dragon Zero (william_the_dragonborn@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 09:43:54 JST Dragon Zero @Giganova8 @SuperSnekFriend All of the Xenoblade games have perfect endings and I am looking forward for the Xenoblade X remake. Even with some more depressing endings there should be hope, hope in the future. Ardainian Hebrew Israelite likes this. -
Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 11:46:45 JST Cayhr @TrueMasterCole This meme with GRRM is great. I am a true believer in universal truths and wisdom. It will probably take millenia, eons, or a totally new species to make the ones we know rooted in tradition irrelevant, which my lifespan and many others will not even be a conceivable iota within that time. Or, I guess, total dystopian control lol. If our wisdom rooted in tradition also extends to universal truths, why not maintain it? I never found Game of Thrones appealing for these reasons.
I find the demoralization both sad and disappointing.
