     @mako principle driven ("ideological motived") people committed to developing 'worse software' - but that's 'free' - compared to proprietary software... provide a 'cultural subsidy' that is a net cost... until the 'free' software ends up being better. It's about commons-based peer production. Fascinating.

     @lightweight @mako I get the impression this happens especially often when it helps proprietary corporations reach a broader audience...

     Free software isn't always the best about this, but where we do focus on internationalization or accessibility we often excel!

     @alcinnz @lightweight @mako i was in the room for this talk. It was great.

     Good talks stick with you. And the co opting was a wake up call about how to me open source isn't enough. But also free software isn't enough and we just can't stop evolving our philosophical underpinnings
