     @Terry world-changing events happen and people still need to work. One does not exclude the other. Were Hitler's soldiers going to work? Are Putin's soldiers getting up every morning to mow down Ukrainians going to work? You could argue nations go to war so that people can go to work, at peace. It's nice to have a functioning infrastructure, access to water and food, and everything else that you need nowadays. That only happens when people work. Now for things like safety, justice, and prosperity, one may need to go to war for that.
