NNN came out of NoFap, which was explicitly a movement intended to improve people's lives and start relationships so they didn't have to masturbate anymore. The idea is that if your sexual needs are met by yourself, it kills motivation to find a woman.

Which is why it's annoying that people try to equate not masturbating with not having sex during NNN. You're doing it wrong. Having sex is the goal.
