@hickory "You should drink raw, unhealthy milk and risk getting sick!" Lmao nah. And besides, buying and selling raw milk in Canada is illegal anyways :kekw:
@Kyonko802 My grandma is usually the one who buys the milk (and in general stocks the freezer and fridge) and she prefers 2%. She's not a big fan of other percentages.
@Ronnie21093 I grew up on 2%, only started drinking whole when I changed my diet. Eliminating bacteria is important but skimming the milk takes out the fullness of it.
I thought I would dislike it because everyone said it's too sweet but the only difference I noticed was a bit more of an aftertaste.
@Kyonko802 Tbh, if I lived on my own I'd get a bottle, but I live with my grandma and wouldn't wanna get milk she might not like. Also not into getting a bottle of milk when we already have one or two at home.
@Ronnie21093@Kyonko802 btw if you want to broaden your dairy horizons without raw shit get some kefir or just eat greek yogurt if you don't already. Very good, very healthy
@LoliHat@Kyonko802@Ronnie21093@hickory Yeah, I don't think there's a step above butter. You could let the mixer just go until you remember it's on. :thinkinghrr:
@Meemoo@Nepiant "What's the problem?" Well, the whole chance of getting sick just from drinking it ain't exactly appealing. Plus, it is illegal to buy or sell raw milk in Canada.
@Ronnie21093@Nepiant never heard of anyone getting sick from that :zt_what: I even went to a random herder out in the desert while on a trip and paid him to milk his camel on a bowl which I drank on the spot.
Sounds like a gay law tbh. Trying out milk that way is cool. If anything it gives you a story to tell.
@Meemoo@Nepiant And again, even if for some reason I wanted to try raw milk, legally I can't even buy it. I would have to buy my own cow, and those are expensive last I checked.
@Meemoo@Nepiant Tbh, given the condition they're in, I wouldn't be surprised if the raw milk from factory cows is the one that has a significantly heightened chance of getting people sick. Raw milk from average farmer Joe who takes proper care of his cows would probably be fine, especially if you boil it yourself at home. Also wouldn't surprise me if the owners of those factories were behind the ban in 1991. :chino_sip:
@Ronnie21093@Nepiant do you still have local farmer markets over there? Those are usually fresher than the supermarket stuff and it supports local farmers
@Meemoo@Nepiant There's one right in town. There's also a local farm in town with a couple of animals, including cows. They even make their own ice cream. Assuming the market isn't closed for the season, it should be open today so I'll walk on up and check what they have. I doubt they'll have raw milk, but they might have whole. And even if they aren't selling there, the grocer in town sells their stuff.
