     It could also be a change of heart. A famous case of this happened in the 50s in the US. One of America's top military tech scientists was a Chinese man who decided that, now that his nation was "the enemy" he didn't want to help the US design bombs and missiles. The US kept badgering him until he finally left back to China, where he helped design their first atomic bomb, hydrogen bomb, and icbm in record time.

     No, I mean something more specific.
     
     Why would she put all the work into infiltrating at that level, only to "leak it online"
     
     You'd expect them to be more careful with the information so that they don't realize it was ever compromised
