     @lapin i don't think you need to worry about that if you have a fairly recent one. technically speaking if you worry about wear out you could one without journaling and swap but that's advice from the 2000s. its not gonna save you anyways thats why backup backup backup

     @lapin @DarkMahesvara cheap ssd's have such a pitifully low TBW lifetime, that things like F2FS barely make a dent in write lifetime saved

     @lapin @DarkMahesvara they last 5 to 7 years right? Around year four start slotting copies of everything into an HDD and when year 5 hits buy some replacements to keep in a drawer until they crap themselves

     i had an ssd less than 2yo die, but have a 10yo hdd running fine

     @DarkMahesvara @lapin good thing I got a newer version then. I make hdd copies of my hentai collections out of habit though, and when ryujinx got kaput I moved that over too.

     @Kyonko802 @lapin i don't think you can generalized it that much. there are different kinds of flash memory with different wear leveling with better total writes that also increases with storage size. an SSD 5 years ago will probably die sooner than one from today.
