   @silverpill i have an issue with my instance. It's not able to reach another instance, complaining with:

   Oct 15 15:17:55 localhost.localdomain mitra[5810]: 2024-10-15T15:17:55 mitra::mastodon_api::search::helpers [WARN] failed to import profile Nimbius666@comp.lain.la: error sending request for url (https://comp.lain.la/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct%3ANimbius666%40comp.lain.la): error trying to connect: tcp connect error: Network unreachable

   The thing is, I can use curl and wget to fetch that file when I'm in the instance's system, so I don't get what's going on

     @mischievoustomato It is reachable from my server. Try searching for actor ID instead of webfinger address: https://comp.lain.la/users/Nimbius666

     @mischievoustomato In ActivityPub users are called "actors" and have unique IDs that are URLs (like the one I posted). Addresses like Nimbius666@comp.lain.la are secondary identifiers.

     Yes, fetch-actor works with actor IDs. You can also paste actor ID (URL) into the search box of your client

     @mischievoustomato I don't know what could cause that, but it is probably not related to mitra, because on my servers fetch-actor works as expected, and if I remember correctly you're using the deb package, so the binary is exactly the same.

     Looks like a problem with the network, either on your side or at comp.lain.la. I'd try to contact the instance admin

     @silverpill this instance runs on fedora, and I compile from source the latest releases. I think I did the same when I ran rebased+soapbox, and stuff worked fine. I wonder what could the issue be?
