   With a lot of talk on our Python group, I have Codon a run.

   Right out of the bat, it segfaulted when it couldn't find something defined in module level (it's that module logger).

   Someone else tried a full I/O bound code with 5 lines and it was 2.6x times slower than CPython.

     Also, the BSL (Business Source License) for it feels more like a slap in the face than an actual license.

     They reckon is not an open source license, but still.

     Also, you need to sign a CLA (Contributor License Agreement) when you contribute.

     Those two give the feeling that you give up all your intellectual property when contributing (i.e., you do not share the copyright, as in other licenses).

     "Strings: Codon currently uses ASCII strings unlike Python's unicode strings."

     I understand the why, but I still think this is a major downturn for it. The time for ASCII is mostly dead, most systems moved to UTF8 already and this thing is stuck in the 90s.
