     @elftummy @Curvin This thing was more a collector piece and “oh wow snazzy” box than actual gun. I can’t imagine how screwed you’d be shooting this thing without protection.

     Granted, the bush plane guys don’t have the same standards, but you have to pass hearing tests in order to maintain your pilot license. Shooting a .500 out of a 1” barrel is basically putting a few pathways to rest

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Curvin I am a big iron appreciator. I worked at a gun store for a little while in college and anybody interested in a revolver I would always have them hold and feel the SW500 we had in the case. It wasn't like that in a nice pelican or whatever, it had a 12-in barrel and the cylinder was smooth as butter.

     @mmmfeet @Curvin @WashedOutGundamPilot If you are a grug when it comes to guns, my best advice is to get educated ; no white man can afford not to know how to use firearms these days.
     As for avoiding urban ambush, always remember the golden rule: around blacks never relax.
     
     Everyone likes to play armchair shooter online and act like a tough guy and have autistic arguments about what kind of gun or what caliber is going to be best in any particular self-defense situation. Usually these people have never actually even owned a gun, let alone used it at a range, and heaven forbid have they ever been in a self-defense situation. I have, it's not fun. And it's not something to laugh and joke about.
     Ultimately, the number one factor on whether you're going to live or die is your training. Even a .22 is deadly at any range at which it is usable. Get a gun you like, that feels comfortable in your hand, and that you're comfortable using, and then train with it.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @elftummy @Curvin The greatest things about the wheelgun is it looks cool, the second greatest thing is that it can shoot when it's pressed up against someone (like a mugger that's on top of you) apparently a lot of modern pistols don't do that. Extra points for being the kind of snub nosed revolvers that old timey detectives used to use

     @mmmfeet @WashedOutGundamPilot @Curvin Yes, most modern handguns have an out-of-battery safety which will prevent the gun from firing unless the slide is in the full forward position. This can be remedied with a small piece of metal called a " standoff device"

     @admin @mmmfeet @Curvin @elftummy My only real firm advice is that normies buy a gun they’ll actually carry. Way too many take the “good” advice to get something like a ‘compact’, then when you ask them they’re never carrying it when they leave the house.

     I’d rather them have even a single stack 9 on their waist than a double stack at home in the nightstand.

     @mmmfeet @Curvin @WashedOutGundamPilot @elftummy The only two drawbacks to a revolver are capacity and weight. And I say this as someone who prefers to shoot revolvers as opposed to automatics. I was
     never a big fan of polymer-framed, striker-fired, Glock-pattern semi-auto pistols, but after switching to a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber subcompact in 2019, I’ve changed my opinion about them for the better.
     
     So definitely you would be in good shape to have an AR-15 for home defense (a 16-inch, mid-length configuration is a good all-around choice) but for everyday carry a Glock-pattern semi-auto might be a superior choice than a revolver.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Curvin @elftummy @mmmfeet A lot of subcompacts nowadays are moving to double-stack while managing to keep a single stack profile. The Smith & Wesson Shield Plus is only millimeters or two wider in the grip frame than the standard Shield, but it holds 13 rounds as opposed to 7.
     
     The subcompact .40 that I carry holds 10 in the magazine and one in the chamber, and it’s small enough that I carry it in pocket holster in my front pocket. So that’s one of the encouraging aspects of the direction the industry has gone with automatics — high concealability and thus comfort of carry, while increasing capacity.

They made them in 9mm and .40 when they first came out in 2019, but only the 9mm models are currently listed on the Smith & Wesson website. But you can still find factory new .40 versions on Gunbroker.
     
     Mine was bone stock when I bought it, but I added a set of Trijicon night sights a few years ago and just recently added an Apex Forward-set trigger.
