   Traditional religions are meant to civilize humans living in an animalistic world. Our problem now is a world that's overly civilized and repressive towards our animal nature, a problem that tends not to get fixed except through war and social collapse. Religion's advice in such times is generally to go off and be a hermit away from the sinful and decadent world, which is not a bad idea for an ordinary guy, but it can't be taken by everyone, and someone will inevitably have to take up the mantle by unsavory means.

     @ArdainianRight @ChristiJunior I don't think hermitpilling is actually what religion says to do. The Reconquista wasn't a bunch of Spanish hermits.

     Sometimes it can be. Other situations call for Holy War. There's no obligation to let marauders overrun your homeland, especially if you have the wherewithal to fight back.
