i have an intense obsession with a number of old computer games that could have been super awesome but weren't (for example: amazing graphics/environments/sound/world but botched or tiresome mechanics, unfinished/rushed release (stuff in screenshots is not in the game, items are useless...), bad writing etc).
(some examples, and i love all of these, don't get me wrong: bureau 13, burntime, dark seed, elvira 2, bloodnet, dreamweb, b.a.t. 2, whale's voyage 2, ...)
@mntmn sometimes I see interviews with the devs of older games like the Ultima series where they really wanted to implement cool groundbreaking stuff but hit financial or technical dead ends :ablobcatbawl: Ultima Online was supposed to have a complete ecology framework that was destroyed by players within a day so they shelved it :ablobcatcryalot:
