Hi there, I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, Steam/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Steam plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Steam system.

@Marvelous7578 they've been doing that forever. It works, I guess. I haven't worked with it specifically.
Distributing commercial software on Linux is hard because of the shared library stuff.

Have you looked at the Common Steam Redistributions? Soldier, Scout, Sniper, whatever version they're on.
Since Linux libraries change all the time, they started packaging fixed versions.
Exactly what Linus Torvalds predicted Steam would do because distro maintainers are retarded.

@crunklord420 @Marvelous7578 Scout is a set of libraries loaded with LD_PRELOAD_PATH. Soldier and Sniper are Debian containers IIRC.
