@rlier23 I guess to be fair Godot has been doing pride month things regularly, so you can make an argument that it’s people’s fault for jumping to alternatives after the Unity fiasco. I actually spent some time in Godot to try and develop a prototype for my game because I’m open to open source alternatives, but I ended up hitting a wall because the UI documentation for the latest release… was not up to date for the version I was using at the time. What I had to do was finagle and figure out how to get ratio based positioning for UI elements; Godot only has discrete pixel offsets from the anchor you choose. Even worse than that, if you have an anchor for a UI element let’s say in the center of your 1440x1080 screen, the position of the UI element that you work with will be an absolute (720, 540), not a relative (0,0). It was frustrating to work with and I hacked it to get a “turn order bar” to work, but man I am not the biggest fan lol. It was Godot 4.2 or so, so it’s a recent release. There’s a lot to be desired out of the engine, unfortunately, and this does not help.

Not to mention GDScript… I swallowed it for a bit but I don’t know if I like a loose scripting language when I’m used to more strictly typed languages.

I’m sure the other game engines like Unreal and Unity have done their fair share of virtue signaling but at least they are complete engines with lots of support.

@kuronakai1488 I know it does, I actually first tried to use Godot with C#. However, the documentation was incredibly sparse and I was having trouble linking signals to the in-editor systems and also getting some things to just… work. There are also some features not supported in C#. It’s fine, it is what it is now.
