     @rmader for some reason i can't access or reactivate my gnome gitlab account at the moment, so one observation from the sidelines:
     - the pinephone pro has an RK3399 with Mali T860 GPU, which is the older mali midgard architecture
     - both the a311d (mali g-52) and mt8183 (mali g-72) have mali bifrost architecture
     - that's probably why you don't see the issue, i.e. it manifests on bifrost, but not on midgard (and also AFAIK not on the newest, valhall)
