From what I gather the reason for the drive sample offset autism in cd ripping is because for audio CDs, drives do not let you read the raw TOC and audio data (with the data for error detection) and you have to rely on commands instead to read those, in which case the TOC may have a different representation and the audio data is missing the error detection data. Did it never occur to anyone to make like a custom firmware that allowed you to read everything normally and make a complete, 1:1 backup of the data? Thank you for reading my blog post.
